GRANNIES
Camera Tracking + CG Integration

For this CG Integration project, I used clean plate footage from Adam Katzenberg. I also obtained a 3D character model of a grandma and workout animations from Mixamo. As a challenge, I incorporated 3 versions of the grandma within my scene. Each grandma was assigned a different exercise animation. I also adjusted the diffuse map colors and facial expressions of the original texture map that came with the model.
I originally had an issue with the imported model where the facial textures were appearing black. I did some problem solving, I found that there was overlapping geometry on the face. After deleting these areas, I was ready to begin applying my custom diffuse maps.

Custom Diffuse Maps
I used Nukes Camera Tracker Node to track the footage and exported the camera from Nuke as an .fbx. I then brought it into Maya and adjusted its position so the ground plane was overlapping with the grid. Then I used a Chrome Ball image as an HDRi, created a spotlight, and adjusted their positions and intensities to match the lighting from the footage.

Maya render layers were used to render out the animated models, shadows, and occlusion passes. Each layer was composited in Nuke over the clean plate footage. Lastly, color correcting was applied to bring a warmer mood to the final composite.
